About Annammal Hospital
Serving the Healthcare Needs of the Community Since 1993
Annammal Hospital is a multidisciplinary Nursing Home with modern facilities, equipment and healthcare personnel, catering to the healthcare needs of the people of this district since 1993.
New infrastructure facilities, diagnostic tools and specialties were opened in successive years. In 2000, modern laparoscopic surgical facilities were introduced for the first time in this southern part of the district. The hospital subsequently earned a name as a specialty centre for Laparoscopic Surgery and Maternity Care.
The hospital provides comprehensive healthcare through multiple specialties including General Medicine, General Surgery, Cardiology, Neurology, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, Anaesthesiology and other specialty services.

Annammal Hospital was built on a foundation of dedication, compassion and service to the community.
FOUNDER
Mr. J. Austin
Retd. Executive Officer for Panchayats in Tamilnadu Government Service
Mr. J. Austin served as the Executive Officer for Panchayats in Tamilnadu Government service and after his retirement was involved in various social activities and Church of South India service.
He was a strict disciplinarian with a humble attitude and maintained positive relationships with people. He encouraged his children to pursue higher education while nurturing moral and Christian values.
His son, Dr. J. A. Jayalal, followed his ambition and became a surgeon in 1993. Together they worked towards establishing Annammal Hospital, beginning with a small clinic and developing it into the hospital it is today.

Nurse in the Primary Health Centre under Tamilnadu Government
Mrs. Annammal served as a Nurse in the Primary Health Centre under Tamilnadu Government and with great dedication and compassion conducted thousands of home deliveries in the Pacode village.
She earned a good name and appreciation from the people through her dedicated service. She was a strict disciplinarian and actively participated in church activities and Sunday School teaching.
Her love, affection and strict principles helped nurture strong values in her children. Her dedication and prayers supported the vision of establishing a healthcare institution that would serve the community.

1993
Beginning
Outpatient Clinic Started
Started as an Outpatient clinic in 1993 by Dr. J. A. Jayalal after his Post graduation in Surgery from Stanley Medical College in Chennai under the guidance of his Father Mr. J. Austin.
The Hospital is named after Mrs. Annammal, his mother who had served as Village Health Nurse for 30 years in Government.
1996
Expansion
New Hospital Building
In 1996, a new Hospital was built with Dr. Sheeba Jayalal MBBS., DGO., joining as the Chief Medical Officer.
1999
Infrastructure
Additional Surgical Block
In 1999, the Hospital expanded with an additional surgical block which was inaugurated to strengthen its surgical care facilities.
2000
Innovation
First Rural Laparoscopic Centre
In 2000, the first rural Laparoscopic Centre was started in our Hospital by our Senior Consultant Surgeon Prof. Dr. J. A. Jayalal MS., FICS., DLS., FIAGES., MBA., after completing his Diploma in Laparoscopy Surgery from Germany.
2003
Medical Education & Community Service
Laparoscopy Workshop & Plastic Surgery Camps
In 2003, the first Tamilnadu State Laparoscopy Workshop was organized in our Hospital.
In association with the Interplast Team from Germany , two camps on Plastic Surgery were organized in the years 2005 and 2010. More than 100 patients with various plastic surgical problems were treated totally free of cost in our Hospital.
2007
Education & Community Care
Annammal School of Nursing
In 2007, Annammal School of Nursing started offering a 3 years Diploma in General Nursing and a 4 year B.Sc Nursing Course with approval from the Indian Nursing Council and TN Dr. M.G.R Medical University.
In 2007, the Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme was introduced and our Hospital was included in the scheme. Thousands of poor people benefited through cashless hospitalization.
2010
Modern Infrastructure
New Hospital Building
In 2010, a new Hospital Building was inaugurated with all modern facilities like a Modular Theatre with Hepafilter, dedicated ICU with 11 beds, C-arm and upgraded modern hospital facilities.
2013
Higher Education
Annammal College of Nursing Expansion
In 2013, Annammal College of Nursing expanded with Post Basic B.Sc Nursing with 40 seats and M.Sc Nursing in 5 specialties with 5 seats in each specialty.
2015
Quality & Patient Safety
NABH Accreditation
In 2015, with constant training, upgradation and dedication in quality healthcare and patient safety, Annammal Hospital received the coveted NABH Accreditation from National Accreditation Board for Hospitals India.
Annammal Hospital is the first private Hospital
in Kanyakumari District to receive this prestigious
award of accreditation.
